Collector Port Qasim Ch Javed to lodge case against M/s M.B. Fertilizer for evading Rs6.78m taxes

KARACHI: Collector Customs Port Qasim decided to register a case against M/s M.B. Fertilizer for evading over Rs 6.78 million taxes and duties and defrauding the government in import of different chemicals.

Sources told Customs Today Port Qasim, that Collector Chaudhery Javed received information that M/s M B Fertilizer imported different consignments by declaring as chemicals. The consignments were examined.

According to the Goods Declaration (GD), the value of taxes and duties was around Rs 1.54 million but during scrutiny, it was revealed that some other goods (machinery parts) were being tried to be cleared under the garb of chemicals and caused Rs 3.54 million loss to the government exchequer.

Thus, a contravention report was prepared against importer and their clearing agent namely M/s Unique Global International for recovering the evaded amount and for further legal proceedings.
