KARACHI: Collector of Customs Collectorate-Port Qasim Mukarram Jah Ansari has issued “assessment alerts” for speedy clearance of the imported consignments from different groups of the Collectorate, it is learnt here.
The sources informed Customs Today that the Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari has continuously received complaints from different segments including importers, traders and clearing agents that they have faced acute problems in clearing their consignments at Qasim International Containers Terminal (QICT).
Reacting upon the complaints, the Collector Port Qasim has issued the “assessment alerts” to ensure speedy clearance at QICT, ensure zero pendency on daily basis, ensure quick examination and assessment of uni-related consignments, ensure through examination of multi-related consignments and to also ensure accurate valuation of imported consignments.
The Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari has asked the officers of different groups to ensure complete and comprehensive implementation over the issued “assessment alerts”.
The collector further said that the strict disciplinary action would be taken against those officials who are found in negligence towards disbursing their duties.
The collector Port Qasim further asked the additional collectors and deputy collectors to submit daily report regarding the clearance of imported consignments so that the performance of the assessment officials and examiners could be evaluated.
The additional collectors and deputy collectors have circulated the assessment alerts issued by the Collector Port Qasim to all respective groups.
The sources further said that the collector Port Qasim would soon call a meeting of the officers of the Collectorate in order to improve the working scenario of the Collectorate.
