Collector Raja Tahir summons suspects in non-duty paid tucks’ cases

FAISALABAD: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Collector Raja Tahir Majeed served show cause notices on two accused persons through the Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation allegedly involved in Hino Truck smuggling case.

As per details, the collector issued notice to Mohammed Ilyas Khan son of Mohammed Roshan Khan resident of Bair Pani Post Office Bagh, Azad Jammu & Kashmir who was driving the truck and other person named Zulfiqar Ahmed son of Mohammed Mukhtar resident of Hassan Abdal, Attok who is owner of the truck.

The Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounded the truck bearing Registration No. GZRA-1313, Chassis No FD2JKB-120110 and model 1997 near Chiniot Road, Faisalabad after the driver failed to show document regarding the legal import of the truck.

The Customs Adjudication issued notices to Mohammad Ilyas Khan and Zulfiqar Ahmed on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969. Both accused were also called upon to show cause as to why the impounded vehicle should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused persons to file their replies by given time, which is also last date of hearing.

Earlier, Collector Raja Tahir Majeed while hearing cases of non-duty paid trucks had issued notice to Rashid son of Ali Asghar and resident of Chack No. 209/GB, Toba Tek Singh, Mohammad Azam son of Abdul Hameed and another person named as Khalid Mahmood. The culprits have been directed to file their replies in their respective cases in next week. The cases of trucks might be decided in the next hearing, sources informed.
