Collector Raja Tahir serves notice on owner of alleged non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser

FAISALABAD: Collector Collectorate of Customs Adjudication Raja Tahir Majeed served a show cause notice on the owner of non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser.

Sources told Customs Today that the collector issued notice to unclaimed person who brought the vehicle into country without payment of customs duty and taxes worth Rs 7,594,800.

According to details, in pursuance of information, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Mianwali, intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser bearing registration no. BF-7520, Sindh model 2010 near Toll Plaza district Mianwali. The data of the said registration was not found online with the Motor Registration Authority (MRA) of Sindh.

As per detailed, the officials impounded the vehicle considering it smuggled one as it was registered against fake documents. The officials impounded the vehicle under  Section 156(1) 89. Later the case was forwarded to the Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

The adjudication issued notice on the violation of Section 16 with the Section 2 (S) of the Customs Act, 1969.

However, the adjudication has directed seizing authority to file their replies on hearing date 28-9-2016 in order to defend the case which was allegedly person brought vehicle into country by illegal routes evading the leviable duty taxes.
