Collector Reza holds post-Eid meeting with staff

SIALKOT: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Collector Ahmed Reza Khan held a post-Eid meeting with officials and directed them to take stern action in order to curb smuggling in the region.

Additional Collector Faiz Ali, Deputy Collectors Waheed Anwar Abro, Muhammad Ilyas and Muhammad Hanif, Assistant Collector Fahad Bashir Chaudhary, Superintendents Sohail Butt, Sardar Manzoor, Afzal Raza Syed Jarar Ali Shah, Muhmmad Jaan and Muhammad Naseem, Principal Appraiser Abdul Hameed PSO to Collector Syed Mussadaq Shah, PA to Collector Luqman and other attended the meeting.

In meeting, the collector said that the all officers and officials should work hard to improve performance, adding that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has instructed the customs officials to play their due role to plug the revenue leakage through smuggling.

The collector also said that the Customs Preventive staff should perform duty at Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) and Sialkot International Airport carefully, besides directing the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) to keep an eye on smuggling through various roads, especially GT Road.

He said that the Sialkot is export-oriented city so the officials of customs department should handle the matters amicably and clearance of consignments in an expeditious way. Collector Ahmed Reza also asked the officials to encourage exporters of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to boost exports, besides instructing them to use legal ways to export their items.

He said that FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has lauded the performance of Sialkot Customs and hoped that it will achieve target for fiscal year 2016-17.
