PESHAWAR: The Collector Customs Collectorate Muhammad Saeed Jaddon took notice of delay in customs clearance of trucks laden with fresh fruits and dry fruits at Torkham Border on Monday.
The sources informed Customs Today that Collector Muhammad Saeed Jaddon discussed the matters faced by importers, exporters and industrialists with Rashid Habib Yusufzai Director Trade and Transit at MCC Peshawar
The importers approached Collector Customs and informed him about millions of loss due to stranded trucks for not declaration on Torkham Border by customs authorities.
The Afghanistan authorises demand visa and assurance certificate to declare the trucks on other side they have not been issued by customs authorities to trucks which travel to Afghanistan, the importers said.
Earlier the scam of corruption was pointed out by the importers of fruits and exporters of vegetables to Afghanistan that often the authorities take money on hand and give cheat upon which the border authorization at Afghanistan side rather allowed trucks but now the system has been changed and neither Pakistan Customs nor Afghanistan border authorities are ready to cooperate with Traders due to which the trade had been greatly affected.
.Earlier the Collector examined the newly under construction international trade terminal at Torkham Customs Station and expressed his hope that after full operationalization of this world trade terminal business engagement in the region will grow which intern will bring increase in revenue collection.
The Director Transit and Trade informed the collector about projects which have to be completed in coming months which will further increase the revenue generation.
The Director Transit and Trade further informed the collector that the number of trucks travel to Afghanistan on daily basis has been decreased which have damaged the revenue generation. The Collector Customs praised the activities carried out for providing smooth flow to the trade vehicles across the route.
