Collector Saima Shahzad directs to adopt effective strategy to curb suggling

MULTAN: Collector Appraisement Saima Shehzad issued strict instructions for effectively apprehending smuggling if currency and other commodities including gold to the customs officers and staff deputed at the International Airports falling within the Jurisdiction of the Appeasement Collectorate.

Sources informed Customs Today that special monitoring activity is being witnessed at Multan International Airport in this regard.

Presently, all the international arrival and departure flights (day and night) at the Multan International Airport are being personally monitored and supervised by the Assistant Collector Ahmad Zaheer.

Assistant collector has enhanced the level of vigilance to ensure that no illegal activity is affected by unscrupulous elements. Personal Search of all the outgoing and incoming passengers is conducted in addition to the personal search and scanning being conducted by the Airport Security Force at departure.

All other agencies including Airport Security Force and Anti-Narcotics Force have been sensitized about gravity of the matter and a more coordinated efforts is being carried out through exchange of information to curtail any smuggling attempt of gold and Currency at International Airports of Multan.

At departure flights, the baggage of the departure passenger is simultaneously scanned and examined by the Airport Security Force (ASF), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and customs along with their personal search. At arrival flights, enhanced monitoring and 100 percent scanning and examination of the accompanied baggage is being done by the Customs staff.
