LAHORE: As per details the Collector Sambrial has urged Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to transfer and post fresh staff at Kartarpur Corridor from other Collectorates.
In a letter he informed that well before the operationalization of Kartarpur Corridor on November 2, 2019, the issue of placement of staff came under discussion among the then Member Customs (Operations), Chief Collector Appraisement (Central), Lahore and the undersigned.
Different modalities for placement of staff at Kartarpur were considered as interim arrangement till the approval of permanent staff for Kartarpur by the Government.
Accordingly, it was agreed that due to paucity of staff in MCC Sialkot, staff of Collectorates located in Lahore would be posted at Kartarpur through mutual consultation of Chief Collector Appraisement (Central), Lahore and Chief Collector Enforeement (Central), Lahore on rotation basis. In this regard MCC Sialkot sent a letter to Chief Collector Appraisement (Central), Lahore (Annex-A).03.22.10.2019 for observing and ascertaining the modalities of Customs clearance and smooth functioning of the Corridor, he was informed that there was an acute shortage of staff in MCC, Sialkot to meet the requirement at Kartarpur Coridor. He was requested that in the meantime some staff from other Collectorates may be transferred to this MCC on temporary basis before opening of the Corridor on 9h November, 2019.
However, to avoid legal complications the Board transferred the following staff from different Collectorates through different notifications (list attached at Annex-B). It was informed orally by the Board that this roaster would be issued by the Board after every three months.
During visit of Member (Customs Operations) to Kartarpur Corridor on Member Customs (Operations), again visited on 9 November, 2019 on the eve of inauguration of Kartarpur Corridor. After the visit, Member Customs expressed his satisfaction on the working of staff and promised to reshuffle the staff from Kartarpur Corridor after every three months gradually in group of 10 staff members to their respective Collectorates.
It is, requested that period of three months is complete, therefore, reshuffling substitution of the fresh staff may kindly be ordered for Kartarpur in two stages so that the working at Kartarpur Corridor may not be suffered.
