Collector Saqif Saeed recovers Rs5.78m from M/s Wajahat & Sons, M/s Delight Fabrics & Export

KARACHI: Collector Customs Export Saqif Saeed recovered evaded amount of taxes and duties of Rs5.78 million from M/s Wajahat & Sons and another company M/s Delight Fabrics & Export.

Sources told Customs Today that during scrutiny of the import data, it was revealed that M/s Wajahat & Sons availed undue benefits and concessions by importing a consignment of kitchen accessories including non-stick accessories, fancy fry pain by misusing the SRO 588. The consignment was cleared through Examiner Kaleem Aiwan on February 17, 2018.

Sources said that the company was allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs3.78 million. Investigations were started after detecting the tax evasion and the Customs Export issued a final notice on 1st August, 2018 to deposit the evaded amount within fourteen days.

After receiving the notice, the management of M/s Wajahat & Sons deposited the evaded amount in the official account of the Customs Export on August 10, 2018.

While the management of M/s Delight Fabrics & Export also cleared Rs 2 million of taxes and duties. Sources said that M/s Delight Fabrics & Export also availed undue benefits and concessions and avoided paying taxes according to the customs bylaws.

The Customs Export authorities served on it a final notice on 2nd August, 2018. The management of M/s Delight Fabrics & Export deposited the evaded amount of taxes on 11th August, 2018.
