Collector Sarfraz Warriach approves extension for submission of gold seizure report to Adjudication

MULTAN: Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has approved 30 days extension for submission of gold smuggling seizure report to the Customs Adjudication for its trial.

The Customs Collectorate Multan was bound to submit the seizure report of the said case in 60 days after completion of interrogations and challan of the case but they have taken one month extension from Collector Customs Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich. Sources told that due to new developments with every passing day are the main reason behind this delay for submission of seizure report in Customs Adjudication for hearing.

Sources said that Customs Investigation and Prosecution teams nominated two main persons whose names are Mazhar Balouch and Muhmmad Riaz in gold smuggling case. The Customs Collectorate has  also taken arrest warrant of both accused smugglers in the gold and currency smuggling and Customs teams have raided various places for the arrest of both accused .

One smuggler Mazhar Balouch have taken protective bail  few days ago from court to prevent his arrest in gold smuggling charges and he has also directed to join interrogation of Customs  teams. He will join investigation very soon  in the gold smuggling case.

It is also pertinent to mention here that Customs Collectorate Multan staff has foiled an attempt to smuggle 14 kilogram of gold and foreign currency of 89000 Saudi riyals and United Arab Emirates dirham from Multan International Airport.

Multan Customs staff has also arrested two females passengers Haleema Riaz and Sumaira Asif during their action after recovering 14 kilogram gold in shape of bangles and bracelet wear by both females at the time of travelling to Dubai.

The Customs Investigation and Prosecution branch carried out comprehensive interrogation in the gold smuggling case from female smugglers during their remand and their bails were also rejected from the court. Both females informed Multan Customs during their investigation that they were working for smuggling network which offered them cash for every visit to gulf countries.
