Collector Seema Raza issues show cause notice to Lucky Cement

ISLAMABAD: Adjudication Collector Seema Raza Bukhari has issued show cause notice to Lucky Cement Limited in Karachi for acquiring an amount of Rs 63.85 million by presenting false rebate claims. The court has summoned the company officials on November 26, 2014, otherwise stern action will be taken against the company for violating sections 18,19,20,21, 32(3)-A and 32 of Customs Act-1969. According to Assistant Collector Customs Audit MCC Peshawar, it was observed in the post-clearance audit that 36,500 metric ton cement was exported from a Lucky Cement Unit which does not fall under the said category.

Besides, the Lucky Cement imported 1861.502 metric ton west rubber costing Rs 4 million which was not used for the cement production but the company even claimed a rebate for it. Collector MCC Port Muhammad Bin Qasim has verified that Rs 4.9 million have been paid to the Lucky Cement by the unit through 23 shipping bills. Contravention report-66/2014 has been submitted to the adjudication.
