ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Collector Dr Arslan Subuctageen has offered Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Islamabad Chamber for establishing a coordination office at Islamabad Dry Port in order to expedite the import and export activities.

On the other hand, Islamabad Chamber has suggested that trader will promote the export and import in Islamabad instead of sending their consignments from Karachi if an idea of railway customs was implanted. The Islamabad based industries will utilised the Islamabad station to import and export the items that will boost the revenue generation of Islamabad Customs.

Currently, the steel industries, medicine manufacturing companies, flour mills and other export oriented companies are working in Islamabad, while the marble industry is also growing fast side by side.

Collector Dr. Subuctageen has appreciated the suggestion, adding that all aspects of this matter will be reviewed and possible measures will be taken to realise it.

The basic purpose of the coordination office is to bridge the gap between business community and Pakistan Customs for increasing the tax collection.
