Collector Zulfiqar issues off-duty letters to officials on misconduct

FAISALABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Collector Dr Zulifqar Ali Chaudhary has issued off-duty letters against two examiner inspectors and one deputy superintendent on the allegation of supporting under-invoicing in two consignments.

Sources informed Customs Today that the officials of Customs Import Branch, including two examiners — Irfan Idress and Muhammad Khalid, and Examination Hall-I incharge Deputy Superintendent Anwar Pervaiz — were found allegedly involved in supporting the mis-declaration on the imported consignments, causing loss of Rs 2,127,898 to the national exchequer.

The officials have been served off-duty letters by the collector with immediate effects. The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement, Faisalabad has issued directives of suspension letters for alleged staff. During the interrogation, all officials remained fail to defend the allegations.

Similarly, the custom authorities have also sent disciplinary suspended letters to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) against the suspects.
