Collector Farid adjourns Q-Mobile case for indefinite period

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I Collector Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi on Thursday conducted the hearing into Q-Mobile tax evasion case.

The hearing lasted for only 20 minutes in which both the petitioners Q-Mobile and its authorised dealers Digicom Limited and New Allied Electronics and respondents Model Customs Collectorate Multan submitted para-wise comments regarding the case.

Afzal Ahmed Bhatti represented the petitioner while Superintendent Tanveer Malik represented the MCC-Multan.

Collector Farid adjourned the hearing for indefinite time period after receiving the paras-wise comments.

The authorities concerned of the MCC-Multan in the previous hearing conducted on December 3 had advocated the case comprehensively and provided cohesive legal grounds into the case.

However; the representative of cellular company said that the MCC-Multan Collectorate was not authorised to contest or to make the case against it, as the import did not fall in the jurisdiction of the MCC-Multan.
