LOUISVILLE: Couple of 40-foot shipping containers having filled with medical supplies are heading towards Philippine from Louisville.
Baptist Health partnered with Supplies Over Seas to bring medical relief to the people affected by Typhoon Haiyan, which struck in Nov. 2013. The containers are packed with over $200,000 worth of medical supplies, including stretchers and vital sign monitors.
The donated supplies have been serviced by Aramark to make sure they will operate properly.
“The equipment and supplies that we send overseas are equipment and supplies that we no longer use,” said Karen Higdon of Baptist Health. “For one thing, it’s the right thing to do. It helps the different countries in need.”
Volunteers from Baptist Health helped sort and pack the items.
