CHARLESTON: Cargo volume continues to increase at South Carolina’s ports. The South Carolina Ports Authority board was told Thursday that container volume is up more than 4 percent since the fiscal year started last July.
Authority president and CEO Jim Newsome says container volume last month showed a modest gain compared to February of 2015. Newsome said he expects continued increases in the coming months. In February, the ports handled the equivalent of nearly 160,000 20-foot shipping containers, an increase of more than 3 percent over February of last year.
