Cops lock up Customs I&I officers for stopping DSP’s non-custom paid vehicle

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs intelligence and Investigation (I&I) officials and federal police came face to face when the former impounded a non-custom paid vehicle being used by the Principal Staff Officer to Islamabad IG police.

According to sources, a customs intelligence officer and five other officials were doing recce of the non-custom paid vehicles. When they stopped PSO to Islamabad IG Najeeb Shah’s vehicle near a petrol pump at Khyber Chowk. The PSO (who is also the DSP) allegedly started swearing and called SHO Karachi Company to send a police contingent.

The SHO immediately reached the venue along with his force and arrested all five customs officials including intelligence officer Tariq and took them to the police station where they allegedly tortured the customs men.

A police spokesperson told the media that they started an inquiry into the incident to be led by DIG headquarters Hassan Raza.

The spokesperson further informed that the DSP would remain suspended till the completion of the inquiry against him.
