SAN JOSE: Coffee exports from Costa Rica rose 16.3 percent in July compared with the same month last year, national coffee institute ICAFE said on Thursday. Coffee shipments from the country, one of Central America’s smaller producers, but known for its high-quality beans, totaled 113,074 60-kg bags for the month.
Exports during the first 10 months of the current 2015/2016 harvesting season totaled 1.1 million bags, up 4.5 percent compared with the same period during the 2014/2015 crop. The coffee season in Central America and Mexico, which together produce about a fifth of the world’s arabica beans, runs from October through September.
