Court adjourns bail plea in Rs 500 million tax evasion case

LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has adjourned the bail plea of accused Amjad Amin who is allegedly involved in tax evasion of Rs 500 million. The Special Court had already approved his physical remand two times. Now the court has sent him jail on judicial remand.

According to well informed sources of Customs Today accused Amjad Amin was importing containers from China from quite some time. After passage of a considerable period, Customs authorities received credible information that the accused is involved in mis-declaration of goods. They stated that the accused was not declaring the actual amount of the imported goods. When Customs authorities scrutinized his documents, they found a fraud of Rs 500 million in the form of tax and duty evasion.
