Court issues arrest warrants for 84 Customs officials in pharmaceutical raw-material import case

LAHORE: Non-bail able arrest warrants have been issued against 84 Customs officials allegedly in illegal import of pharmaceutical raw-material.

Sources in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told Customs Today that a local court issued non-bailable arrest warrants of the customs officials after they failed to appear before the court despite repeated intimations.

The Customs officials who were issued the warrants include principal appraisers, appraisers, examiners and others.

The officials were accused of clearing multi-million pharmaceutical raw-material illegally without permission from the federal drug department. and the license for a Lahore based party within the four years from 2010-2014.

Earlier, the dispute between the Customs and FIA seemed to end as the FBR chairman directed the Customs officials to join investigation after a letter was written by DG FIA.
