Court rejects bail plea of alleged tax evader

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has rejected the bail plea of a suspect  involved in income tax evasion and is in jail on judicial remand.

Sources told Customs Today that an accused Fazal Hussain was allegedly involved in evasion sales tax and income tax. The Federal Board of Revenue intelligence found that Fazal made huge bank transactions but he never paid a single penny to the national kitty. Customs Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad during hearing of the case on Monday rejected his bail plea and asked FBR to complete challan of the case until next hearing. Hearing of the case  also adjourned for next week. Fazal Hussain was allegedly involved in tax evasion to the tune of Rs 7.5 million.

Earlier he was arrested by the Federal Board of Revenue intelligence team and was handed over to Inland Revenue investigation team for further prosecution. He was produced before the Court last Monday where Court approved his physical remand for three days and then 14 days judicial remand as well.
