Court rejects bail pleas of two businessmen in Rs 240m tax evasion case

LAHORE: Customs Court and Civil Court has rejected bail pleas of the owner of Anmol Engineering, Rana Ashiq, and owner of Al-Faisal Export, Asim, nominated in Rs 240 million tax evasion case.

As per details, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) team had arrested the owner of Al-Faisal Exports when he was attempting to shift the machinery equipments from a factory, sealed by the department.

As per details, an RTO team in supervision of Commissioner Asim Majeed, had sealed the Anmol Engineering Works, a factory due to the evasion of Rs 240 million taxes and arrested the owner, Rana Ashiq. The RTO was also trying to arrest his partner and owner of Al-Faisal Export, besides putting the name of the accused on Exit Control List (ECL). The Lahore High Court has also cancelled the bail of the accused.

However, Commissioner Inland Revenue, Asim Majeed received information that the owner of Al-Faislal Export, Asim was trying to transfer the machinery, kept inside the sealed factory, by breaking the seal of the FBR.

On which, commissioner made team comprising Deputy Superintendent Rafique Mian, Inspector inland Revenue, Ehtshamul haq, Zafer iqbal and Muhammad Jameel to arrest the accused.

The team raided the factory with local police of Ferozwala and impounded four trucks loaded with machinery and two cars on the spot and arrested Asim, owner of Al-Faisal Exports

After arresting the offender, the teams of the RTO with police sealed Anmol Engineering again.
