ISLAMABAD: Accountability court on Tuesday dismissed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s plea for the dismissal of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) supplementary reference case.

Justice Mohammad Bashir heading the case proceedings rejected Dar’s plea to dismiss the misappropriation of assets case filed by NAB. He remarked that the reason for dismissing the plea will be disclosed at the time of the final verdict.

Dar’s counsel stated that he will challenge the conclusion in High Court once the reasons of dismissal of the plea were made obvious.

Justice Bashir has summoned the President of National Bank Saeed Ahmed on March 27.

NAB, following the Panama Papers case verdict of July 28, filed supplementary references in corruption cases against Dar along with the Sharif family. Dar has been accused of misappropriation of assets declaration, allegedly disproportionate to his income sources.

The corruption case commenced last year in October. However, due to Dar’s ailment and ongoing treatment in London, he had been granted a three-month leave by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
