LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan of the Lahore High Court has suspended operation on termination notices issued to eight employees of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and sought reply from the chairman by June 26.
The court issued this order on a petition filed by the employees. Their counsel submitted before the court that they were regularised four years back on court’s directions. But now, ETPB Chairman Siddiqul Farooq has issued them show cause notice for termination of their services which is illegal and unconstitutional, he added.
The counsel told the judge that the termination notices were in sheer violation of fundamental rights. Hence, the judge suspended the show cause notices served to the ETPB employees and ordered the chairman to submit his reply by June 26.
