Court to announce its verdict on defamation suit from Ocean Packers against PICT soon

KARACHI: The court is going to announce its verdict against the defamation suit filed by Ocean Packers and Movers against the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) authorities leveled allegations that the PICT authorities were involved in pilfering three export pallets containing herbal medicines amounting millions of rupees.

According to details, the Ocean Packers and Movers in the year 2012 was filed a defamation suit against Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) in which it alleged that the PICT authorities were involved in pilfering three pallets containing herbal medicines for export to Alamty, Kazakistan vide GD No KCSE-SB-865.

The clearing agent Ocean Packers and Movers filed a defamation suit in the year 2012 in court and afterwards several hearings into the case have been held and the court is now decide to issue its verdict into the case.

On the other hand, the then Assistant Collector PICT-Examination Dr Aamer Nawaz Hamid was issued a letter to the clearing agent Ocean Packers and Movers in the year 2012 in which he stated that the customs authorities have traced the missing pallets booked for export to Alamty, Kazakistan vide GD No. KCSE-SB-865 dated 12-12-2011, which have been detained.

In the letter, the customs authorities advised the clearing agent to take up the matter with Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) authorities.

The sources informed Customs Today that the PICT authorities have contacted the aggrieved party for out of court settlement into the matter, but no development has yet to be made in this regard.
