COVID-19: Customs I&I superintended Younis Qadri tested positive

LAHORE: Directorate Customs Investigation and Intelligence (I&I) Anti-Smuggling superintendent Younis Qadri has been tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted to 1000-bed quarantine hospital established at the Expo Centre Lahore.

Lahore Customs I&I Superintendent Younis Qadri told Customs Today that he got fever and applied for for a leave on Thursday, however, he was directed by high-ups, to get himself tested for COVID-19 due to prevailing symptoms.

“I do not know from where this virus infected me. But I was performing my duty regularly, conducting raids and attending the courts,” he stated.
“I have no serious symptoms and the patients with mild symptoms are being admitted in the Expo Centre quarantine. I am in good health and will get well soon by the grace of Allah Almighty,” he said, adding that blood samples of his family members have also been taken.

On the other hand, Customs official source said that before the incident the Customs I&I office was properly fumigated and all measures as per direction were being taken for safety of the employees. Only necessary staff members were allowed to attend the office while above fifty staff members were not allowed to attend the office.

It was mandatory for all the officials to use sanitizers installed in the office and cover their faces properly with mask and maintain proper social distancing, they said, adding that following one positive case, now all the staff members are being tested and the office will be closed for three days until further instructions, they explained.

The office of Directorate Customs Investigation and Intelligence is situated at the Allama Iqbal Town.
