CPA fines Liberian ship for spilling oil in Karnaphuli River

DHAKA: A ship, carrying Liberian flag, has been fined Tk 60,000 for spilling oil in the Karnaphuli River.

The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) conducted a drive led by Executive Magistrate Muhammad Abul Hashem.

“It was fined Tk 60,000 in accordance with CPA’s 1967 ordinance,” Hashem told bdnews24.com.

In a separate development, the CPA evicted four garages from a 1.5-acre plot near the CPR gate.

He said they had issued warnings to the garage owners to remove their shops.

“We auctioned abandoned trucks and engine parts for Tk 950,000,” he said.
