CPEC great initiative to help develop entire Asia region: Bao Jiqing

ISLAMABAD: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a great initiative to help develop the entire Asia region and the Chinese government would keep supporting Pakistan develop its economy and its human resource.

These views were expressed by Mrs Bao Jiqing, the wife of Chinese ambassador to Pakistan while addressing the launch of a learning program for elegant students of Pakistan under a program “Seeds for the Future”.

Under the program, eleven talented young Pakistani students from top-ranked educational institutions and universities would embark upon for a 14-day journey to China on Friday.

Huawei Pakistan has sponsored the visit under its program Seeds for the Future which was launched here for the first time in Pakistan.

Madame Bao Jiqing, the spouse of Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, was the chief gust on the occasion while Member IT, Tahir Mushtaq, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei, Meng, Deputy CEO Ahmed Bilal Masood, and many other officials from the government and private sector graced the occasion with their presence.

Officials from IT ministry, universities, students and Chinese Embassy representative also joined this event.

Addressing the audience, Bao Jiqing congratulated all the selected students for the seeds for youth program.

“This is a good beginning for Huawei Pakistan and a precedence for other Chinese companies. Chinese government will encourage all companies to help develop Pakistan and its people. The CPEC is also such a step as they say in China a thousand miles journey starts with a single step. Huawei has taken this step,” she said.

She said that the CPEC is a great initiative. China has always helped Pakistan. “This program would give children cross culture awareness and exposure. 60 PC youth of Pak is a great opportunity. High skilled requirement is a big challenge,” she added.

Fazal Ahmed Khalid, Vice Chancellor, UET said that youth is a ray of hope for Pakistan despite challenges. “With the CPEC, no need to worry about future. Economic growth is a good omen for Pakistan.  These students would contribute a lot after learning in China. We are working to cement partnership with Huawei,” he added.

‘Seeds For the Future’ is an initiative launched by Huawei Pakistan to further cement the people-to-people contacts between brotherly countries of Pakistan and China under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.

Eleven students from different colleges will take a journey of 14 days in China, including China culture experience and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) lectures and site visits to Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) and Shenzhen Huawei Headquarters from Aug. 15th to 29th.

“Seeds for the future” program is the biggest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of Huawei Technologies.

The program seeks to develop local ICT talents, enhance knowledge transfers, and improve people’s understanding and interest in the ICT industry. This program was firstly launched in Thailand in 2008, until now it has extended to 40+ countries and cover 10000+ students all over the world.

It is first time in Pakistan to launch this program. Huawei Pakistan company dedicated to devote its social responsibility to empower more and more youth generation. The second program will be launched next year.

Addressing the audience on the occasion, the deputy CEO of Huawei Pakistan said that year 2015 has been declared as the year of China-Pakistan Friendly Exchanges. “Making this year as the first year of ‘Seeds for the future’ program in Pakistan, this initiative answers the call of the year of China-Pak Friendly Exchange.

It will help deepen friendship between the two countries and add special significance,” he added.

He said that at the same time, this program contributes Huawei’s efforts to the construction of China-Pak Economic Corridor, which is a long-term plan and will benefit generations.

“Technology introduction and personnel training is both indispensable and personnel training are even more foundational.

As a leading company in Pakistan ICT industry, Huawei has sowed the seeds for the Pakistan future.

It has been 20 years since Huawei Pakistan was established in 1998, who witnessed the friendship between the two countries passed down from generation to generation. Huawei Pakistan will try all its efforts to support Pakistan for its construction and build up the “community of same destiny and future,” he maintained.

“At the stimuli of China-Pak Economic Corridor, Pakistani people are more and more enthusiastic about China, so “Future” is a fit word. Huawei is like a bridge which links the Pakistan present and the future. This program is Huawei’s CSR program, not for business or represent government action,” he added.

The students selected for the China visit included Syed Maazuddin, Abdullah Munir, Mohammad Abbas, Amina Anwar, Aleemullah, Jameel Ahmed, Samra Waqar, Arooba Shahid, Aneesullah Baig, Rafique Sultan, and Abbasi Ali.
