Lion, crabs, piglets, horses, falcons – this is a far from a complete list of species of animals that smugglers tried to move across the state border or were illegally catching but were stopped by officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
last year, in one of the ports of Odesa, border guards found a young lion, that was hidden among more than 2,000 parrots. And in Kherson region, border guards detained poachers with the catch of crabs worth almost 9 million hryvnias. In one case, a smuggler fleeing from border guards on a motorcycle lost 12 piglets.
In addition, border guards in Volyn detained 3 Ukrainians and a truck with horses, and in the international airport “Borispol”, law enforcement officers prevented the export of 3 falcons to the United Arab Emirates, – the State Border Service informs.
