Crackdown against drug peddlers continues in Sindh

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla was told that a crackdown was going on against drug peddlers.

In the last 15 days during raids in Karachi, Hub Chowki, Mirpurkhas, Islamkot, Mithi and other parts of Sindh illicit liquor, charas and other drugs had been recovered while many accused arrested and investigations were underway, the minister was further informed. The Director General E & T, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi informed the minister while presiding over a meeting, said a statement.

The Sindh Minister said that it is our prime duty to prevent our young generation from the menace of drugs use because they are our future. Secretary Excise and Taxation Dr Mansoor Abbas Rizvi and other officials concerned also attended the meeting.

The E&T minister directed the officers to speed up their raids against the drug peddlers and narcotics.

Emergency steps should be taken against the use of heroin, cocaine, charas and other drugs, he directed. He added ‘No one is above the law and if any officer shows negligence in this regard, departmental action be taken against him’.

Mukesh Kumar Chawla said: ‘We are all supposed to work on same page to achieve our objectives’.
