Crackdown on drug pushers recovers big quantity of ICE

PESHAWAR: Commander Kharkhano check-post Jamshed Afridy on Monday launched a crackdown on drug dealers on the directives of Assistant Political Agent Jamrud Zia-ur-Rehman at Khyber Agency and seized huge quantity of ICE.

He said these drug smugglers have earned a bad name for the region. They bring drugs from cross the border by hiding them in the daily used goods such as fruits, cloths and utensils.

The ICE is a drug mainly imported from Afghanistan and Iran while the numbers of dealers are increasing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) against which crackdown operation has been launched.

As the ICE been is supplied to different regions of KP and a large number of students have started using the ICE, he added.

Several dealers were arrested from Kharkhano check-post among whom Ishtiaq Khan was held with high quality and large quantity of ICE, he added.

Jamshed Afridy further said that Khasadar Force has also arrested drug smugglers from Wazir Dand areas of Jamrud and ICE drug was seized. Commander Kharkhano check-post said tehsil Jamrud serves as a gateway to Khyber Agency for transporting goods and livestock.

Talking to Customs Today, Assistant Political Agent Jamrud Zia-ur-Rehman termed the business of drugs an anti-state activity to earn a bad name for country. He praised the working duty hours of customs force with law enforcement agencies at the Torkham Gate.

He added that the smugglers cause a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer and it is our mission to eliminate the business of smuggling and drug trade from Torkham division to rest of Pakistan.
