HANOI: Trade revenue across China-Vietnam border in 2015 accounted for 85 percent of Vietnam’s total border trade revenue, according to Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade on Tuesday at a meeting to review border trade activities during 2015.

In total, during the year, Vietnam posted some $27.56 billion in border trade with China, Laos and Cambodia, an increase of 27 percent compared to 2014, the ministry said on its website.

Import and export commodities via border between Vietnam and China were diverse, said the ministry. Vietnam mainly exports agro-forestry-fishery products, processed and industrial products, as well as minerals to China, while the country imports materials for production, food, consumer goods, machinery, vehicles, and electronic products, among others.

Cross-border trade revenue between Vietnam and Cambodia ranked second with 11 percent of the total figure, while that with Laos accounted for four percent, said the ministry.

The total border trade revenue between Vietnam and China, Cambodia and Laos is expected to reach $30 billion in 2016.
