State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has said that banks will not accept currency notes inscribed with political slogans and asked the citizens to avoid such practice of writing political slogans on currency notes.
In reaction to Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief, Tahirul Qadri’s statement urging citizens for visiting markets and shops with currency notes inscribed with slogan of “Go Nawaz Go”, SBP said that writing on currency notes is unlawful. The SBP warned that legal action would be taken against the violators. The SBP also issued directives to banks for closely monitoring political slogans on currency notes and don’t accept it if any such statement was found.
