KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has awarded a 19-day imprisonment and Rs 150, 000 fine to a suspect, Aamir S/O Muhammad Ibrahim, on pleading guilty. The suspect was arrested while attempting to smuggle foreign currency from Dubai to Karachi.
During the hearing, investigation officer appeared before the court and produced the accused. The counsel for the accused moved an applicant before the court for pleading guilty and left himself on the mercy of the court.
After the hearing, the court awarded 19 days imprisonment and Rs 1 50, 000 fine to the accused. In default of payment of the fine, the accused will undergo simple imprisonment for two more months.
According to the prosecution, on a credible information staff of the airport security forces dated mid night of 3rd and 4th November 2016 intercepted the accused Aamir and during the examination of his bag recovered 1, 17, 500 Saudi Riyal, 1500 Qatar Riyal and 32, 000 Omani Riyal from his possession which having tentative valuing of Rs. 31, 06, 955.
After the formalities, currency was seized and above named accused persons also was arrested.
