Custom Court extends physical remand of accused involved in antiques smuggling

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has extended physical remand of a suspect, Saeed Samee son of Muhammad Samiuddin, till October 04, 2016. The suspect has been arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle antiques.

During the hearing, investigation officer Shahzad Wasti produced the suspect in court and requested the court for further psychical remand, therefore, the court extended physical remand and directed the Collector of Preventive to provide medical treatment to the accused.

According to the prosecution, on a credible information, a team of the Customs Preventive intercepted accused Saeed Sami and recovered antiques, one Hanuman (Hindu mythology) stone size 27×10 inch and female figure (Hindu mythology) stone size 13×5 inch and others goods from his possession.

After the formalities case was registered by Dilwaris Khan Senior Preventive Officer as violation of section 2 (s) of the Customs Act 1969,  punishable under clauses 8 & 9 of 156 (i) ibid, read with section 25,26 of 27 of antiquities act 1975.
