Custom Court grants two-day physical remand of mobile phone smuggler

LAHORE:  The Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court on Tuesday handed over a smuggling accused to the Customs Intelligence and Investigation on a two-day physical remand.

The accused was caught while smuggling mobiles phone sets from Dubai to Pakistan. Special Judge Custom Taxation and Anti-Smuggling court Muhammad Tanveer Akbar granted the physical remand of Waseem Ahmad for two days.

Muhammad Waseem s/o Aziz Ahmad belongs to Karachi and was being involved in smuggling of mobiles phones from Dubai to Pakistan.  He was arrested by the Customs authorities at Lahore Airport when he came to Pakistan by PK 296 from Dubai.

He was trying to get clearance at customs counter during checking.  He was carrying 384 mobiles phones of Motorola, Samsung and Nokia worth Rs 3.84 million. He declared his consignment as his personal use when asked by the officials at Lahore Airport.
