Custom Court issues warrants for two suspects in diesel smuggling case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bail able warrants for suspects, Muhammad Hussan and Hussain Khan, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle 40,000 liters of Iranian diesel worth Rs 162,000.

According to the prosecution, a team of customs searched Yousaf Goth Bus Terminal, Quetta Gate near Usman Masjid, Karachi on December 12, 2015 and found underground storage tanks filled with Iranian diesel during the examination of a dumping place in presence of two witnesses.

Investigation officer said that after the formalities, customs authorities seized 40,000 liters of Iranian diesel.

A case was registered by complainant Customs Intelligence Appraising Officer Rana Rabbbani under Section 2 (2) 16 & 178 of the Customs Act, 1969, punishable under/ clauses (8) & (81) of the sub section (1) read with sub section (2) of Section 156 of the customs Act, 1969. Both accused persons allegedly owners of the said diesel have not been arrested yet.
