Custom Court seeks final challan in mis-declaration case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has directed the investigation officer to submit final challan of a case against Noman Rauf and Sahira Jahngir, who are allegedly involved in a case of mis-declaration.

During the hearing, accused Noman Rauf, import manager of M/s AMI Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd and Sahira Jahanir, assistant import manager of M/ AMI Pakistan were present before the court. Investigation Officer Shahid Dasti requested for further time to submit the final challan.

The Custom Court granted time and adjourned the hearing for November 19, 2016 for confirmation of bail and the final challan.

According to the prosecution, during the investigation, it was revealed that above named accused persons with the collaboration of others committed an offence of mis-declaration.

A case was registered by complainant Customs Appraisement-East officer Arshad Ahmed on violation of Section 16, 32, (1) (2), 32 A, 79 of the Custom Act, 1969 punishable under Clauses 9, 14, 14A & 46 of Section of 156 (I) ibid.

It needs to be pertained here that both accused persons were on interim bail which was granted by the same court against the surety of Rs 100,000 each.
