KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued notices to the special public prosecutor and investigation officer on a bail application filed by Saeed Samee, who was arrested in a case of attempting to smuggle antiques.
During the hearing, counsel for the applicant filed a bail application and stated that his client is innocent and implicated in a false case, therefore, the court may grant his after arrest bail.
After the hearing, the court issued notices to the special public prosecutor and investigation officer and directed them to file comments on next date of hearing. The court also called case papers and adjourned the hearing for October 17, 2016.
On last date of hearing, investigation officer Shahzad Wasti had produced the above named accused person and requested for further psychical remand, therefore, the court extended remand and directed the Customs Preventive collector for providing medical treatment to the said accused.
According to the prosecution, on a credible information, a team of the customs intercepted the accused Saeed Samee and recovered antiques, one Hanuman (Hindu Mythology) stone size 27×10 inch and female figure (Hindu Mythology) stone size 13×5 inch and others goods from his possession.
After the formalities, a case was registered by complainant senior preventive officer Dilwaris Khan on violation of Section 2 (s) of the Customs Act, 1969, punishable under clauses 8 & 9 of 156 (I) ibid, read with section 25,26 of 27 of Antiquities Act, 1975.
