Custom Court sends suspect to jail in currency smuggling case

KARACHI: Custom Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has sent a suspect, Aamir S/O Muhammad Ibrahim, to the Central Jail Karachi on judicial remand who was arrested for trying to smuggle contraband foreign currency from Dubai to Karachi.

During the hearing, investigation officer appeared before the court and produced the suspect. After the hearing, the court sent the suspect to the jail and directed the investigation officer to complication the investigation and submit charge sheet on the next date of hearing.

According to the prosecution, on a credible information staff of the airport security forces dated mid night of 3rd and 4th November 2016 intercepted the accused Aamir and during the examination of his bag recovered 1, 17, 500 Saudi Riyal, 1500 Qatar Riyal and 32, 000 Omani Riyal from his possession which having tentative valuing of Rs. 31, 06, 955.

After the formalities, contraband currency was seized and above named accused persons also was arrested.

Case was registered complainant by Munir Hussain Iqbal senior preventive officer, custom house Karachi in violation of section 2 (s) and 16 of the custom act, 1969, punishable under clauses (8) & (9) of section ibid read with notification of State Bank Pakistan.
