SHILLONG: The customs headquarters (preventive unit), Shillong, seized 29,600 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Linctus from a truck bearing a Nagaland licence plate near Thangsalai village recently.DC Prakash Borgohain said, “The cough syrup bottles and the truck have been seized and a case has been registered under the NDPS Act, 1985. “”Preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment of Phensedyl had been loaded in Siliguri and was bound for Agartala from where it would have been taken to Bangladesh. It is in high demand in Bangladesh and sold at a premium,” the customs official said. The total value of the consignment is Rs 49, 92,752.
