Customs Adjudication-I decide more than 100 cases during fiscal year 2015-16

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I decided more than 100 cases during the fiscal year 2015-16, it is learnt here.

According to details, three Collectors, Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi, Wasif Memon and Abdul Basit Chaudhry, served as the Collectors of the Customs Adjudication-I Collectorate during the fiscal year 2015-16 during which the collectorate decided 127 cases in terms of Order-in-Original (ONOs). At least 200 show-causes notices were issued to different importers during the period.

The total amount nearly of around Rs 250 million have been recovered by the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I through issuing show-cause notices to different importers in connection with their involvement in mis-declaration, tax evasion, under-invoicing and taking undue benefit of SROs.

According to details, around 45 ONOs were issued in the reign of Collector Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi while the Collector Wasif Memon as the Collector of Customs Adjudication-I was issued around 30 ONOs adding that the serving Collector of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued 52 ONOs during the Fiscal Year 2015-16.

During the Fiscal Year 2015-16, more than 200 show-cause notices to the different importers have been issued by the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.

The authorities concerned of Federal Board of Revenue-FBR are quite satisfied by the performance of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I. However, they stressed upon to adjudicate the cases with more efforts after the issuance of show-cause notices.
