Customs Adjudication-I impose Rs 2.2m fine on two importers

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has imposed Rs 2.2 million fine on two importers, besides directing them to pay the evaded amount of duty/taxes.

According the documents of the adjudication, two importers, Ghafoor Traders and Anam and Co evaded Rs 28.8 million in wake of sales tax on the import of aluminum boards by taking undue benefits of Seventh and Eighth Schedule of the Sales Tax Act.

The Post Clearance Audit (PCA) had detected the tax evasion while examining the import record of the said importers. Later, the PCA sent contravention report to the adjudication for legal action.
