Customs Adjudication-I imposed fine on importer for evading Rs 5.6m

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I imposed a fine of Rs 650,000 on Nabeel Khan for evading Rs 5.645 million duty/taxes on the import of import of titanium dioxide consignment through mis-declaration.

The importer had mis-declared the PCT heading while importing the consignment which caused a huge loss to the national exchequer.

The Post Clearance Audit (PCA) during scrutinising the data of the said importer found some discrepancies. It also highlighted that Rs 5.645 million was evaded on the imported consignments. The PCA sent the contravention report to the Customs Adjudication.

After analysing the facts, the collector ordered the importer to deposit Rs 5.645 million taxes and a fine of Rs 650,000 in national exchequer.
