Customs Adjudication-I issues ONO against M/s Regent Chemical Corp; imposes fine

KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has issued Order-in-Original (ONO) against an importer, M/s Regent Chemical Corporation, for its alleged involvement in evasion of regulatory duty in import of dry-milk.

As per information, the importer imported two consignments of dry-milk from Malaysia and availed the exemption of regulatory duty under PCT 0402.9900.

Upon scrutiny, it was found that the importer attempted to evade 10 percent regulatory duty on each consignment, as the consignments fell under PCT Heading 1901.9090.

Subsequently, the Appraisement West forwarded the case to the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I for further legal proceedings. The Assistant Collector Customs Adjudication-I, after conducting hearings into the case, found that the importer had evaded to pay the regulatory duty. The Adjudication-I has imposed a fine of Rs 0.1 million on the importer and directed him to deposit the evaded regulatory duty with the national exchequer.
