Customs Adjudication-I prepares 27 ONOs of Rs 1.5b taxes within one week

KARACHI: The authorities concerned of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I have prepared 27 Order-in-Originals (ONOs) involving evaded duty/taxes amounting to Rs 1.5 billion during last week, it is learnt here.

The reliable sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I while fulfilling its legal proceedings have prepared 27 ONOs within a week which involved evaded duty/taxes amount to Rs 1.5 billion.

Responding a query, the sources further revealed that the authorities concerned of the Collectorate will have to start the issuance of ONOs to the defaulters in the current week with the consent of the Collector, Customs Adjudication-I.

They further said that the prepared ONOs related to the imported consignments including fabric, wheat, oil, cosmetics, electronic and telecommunication equipments.

Responding to another query, the sources informed this scribe that most of the tax evasion cases were forwarded by the Model Customs Collectorate-MCC Appraisement (West) and the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation-FBR Karachi Region.

It may be mentioned here that the issuance of 27 ONOs against the defaulters amounting to Rs 1.5 billion will certainly an attempt to increase the national kitty. However; the defaulters have an options to move to Customs Tribunal and Customs Appellate against the decision taken by the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.
