KARACHI: Customs Adjudication-II Tahir Qureshi demonstrated well by taking actions and issuing notices to tax defaulters during 27 days of December.
Sources told Customs Today that the Customs Adjudication-II served a final notice on a defaulter company named M/s Durrani Fabrics and Export and recovered Rs3.23million from M/s Aini Enterprises Karachi.
M/s s Durrani Fabrics and Export was involved in tax evasion. The company imported different types of fabrics on November 16, 2017 and used the wrong PCT heading. After a careful investigation, the Customs Adjudication-II issued a final notice to the company and cleared the outstanding amount of Rs5million.
Sources said that another company M/s Aini Enterprises Karachi got cleared a consignment of various vehicles’ parts on October 22 and evaded a tax amount of Rs3.23million.
After the investigation, Customs Adjudication-II served a show cause notice on the company on November 17, but it failed to clear the outstanding tax amount.
Collector Customs Adjudication-II issued a final notice to the company on December 4, 2017. After receiving the notice, the company deposited Rs3.23million in favor of the Customs Department. Source said that about 12 more show-cause or final notices will be issued to the defaulter companies in near future.
