Customs Adjudication I&II to decide pending cases until year end

KARACHI: The authorities concerned of both the Collectorates of Customs Adjudication-I and II are making efforts to take-up and decide those cases on priority basis which would be expired by the end of this year i.e. 2014, as the cases would reach the extension limit of 90 days by the end of December 31.

The impeccable sources informed Customs Today that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has asked the authorities concerned of both the Collectorates of Customs Adjudication-I and II to discuss the number of pending cases by the end of 2nd quarters of the fiscal year2014-15. They further disclosed that the authorities concerned of both the Collectorates are trying to appear before the Board with less number of pending cases.

According to the statistics, the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has around 70 cases in pending which have not been decided yet, while the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II has relatively less number of pending cases counts below than 50 whose Order-in-Original (ONOs) have not been issued yet.

It is pertinent to mention here that the FBR in the month of October has already sought a list of cases decided by the authorities concerned of the Collectorates of Customs Adjudication-I&II and also asked to inform the Board about the revenue involved and recovered into the cases.
