KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I Deputy Collector Moeen Afzal Ali has issued an Order-in-Original (ONO) against M/s Dawn Enterprises for allegedly evading duty/taxes amounting to Rs 623,276 by availing benefits of SRO 1125(I)/2011 illegally.
According to the details, it has been reported by the Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) that during the scrutiny of data of importers relating to claims of admissible/inadmissible concessions in taxes accorded vide SRO 1125(I)/2011 dated December 31, 2011 it was found that M/s Dawn Enterprises imported consignments of small hand wallet, small ladies hand bags/purses and declared PCT Heading 4202.2200 through the Custom Appraisement-West. The PCA alleged that the said importer availed inadmissible concessions of the SRO.
On further analysis, it transpired that the status of M/s Dawn Enterprises as available online in the FBR website is that the importer was not registered as a manufacturer at the time of subject imports. Therefore, an amount of Rs 623,276 has been short-paid/evaded.
The deputy collector has directed the importer to deposit the evaded/short paid amount of duties/taxes into the government treasury.
