Customs Adjudication settles 36 cases involving Rs 90.4m in July

MULTAN: The Collectorate of Customs Adjudication decided 36 seizure cases involving Rs 90.472 million during July of the fiscal year 2016-17.

Deputy Collector Farhat Ali has settled 11 cases involving revenue of Rs 5.253 million and issued Order-in-Originals (ONO) in favour of the Customs Department. The deputy collector heard cases of miscellaneous smuggled goods, vehicles and auto parts.

Customs Adjudication Additional Collector Fayaz Anwar decided 13 various seizure cases involving Rs 21.4 million, while Collector Raja Tahir Majeed decided almost 10 cases involving Rs.63.819 million. The adjudication decided only two seizure cases against the department.

During July, almost 42 fresh seizure cases and contravention reports were submitted before the Customs Adjudication for hearing. All the cases involving Rs 130.374 million were formed by Customs Intelligence and Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) during the said period.

Around 69 seizure cases are pending with the Adjudication for last three months involving revenue of Rs 103.502 million.

As per details, a case involving Rs 17.5 million is pending with Collector Raja Tahir Majeed, 33 cases involving Rs 62.122 million with Additional Collector Fayaz Anwar and 35 cases involving Rs 23.88 million are pending with Deputy Collector Farhat Ali.
